“…Systematic reviews and meta‐analyses are the best evidence and the conclusions usually contribute to recommendations and formation of a medical consensus on the best form of intervention. SRM3 causes facial swelling, pain and trismus, and the severity is influenced by the patients’ age, gender, medical conditions, body mass index, smoking, oral hygiene, degree of impaction, root morphology, duration of surgery and surgeon's experience . The included studies of the present systematic review reveal considerable heterogeneity in patient characteristics, study design, pre‐ and post‐surgical medication, no information about the surgeons skills, different degree of impaction, dissimilar evaluation methods and outcome measures as well as various methodological confounding factors, which posed substantial restrictions to review the current literature in a quantitative systematic manner and applying a well‐defined meta‐analysis.…”

“…24 The postoperative infection and dry socket rates were similar to those reported in published studies. 1,26,27 A second surgery to correct or extract retained roots was necessary for 4 teeth (11.8%). This rate was higher than that in previous studies, which reported a range of 0 to 6%; this difference could have resulted from the small sample size.…”

“…For this, all enamel must be removed. This procedure can be performed safely on impacted third molars regardless of their classification, minimizing the amount of bone removed and allowing reduction of force applied during dislocation [ 6 , 7 ]. However, clinical and radiographic follow-up should begin immediately and maintained for 12 months [ 8 ].…”
