What are the health risk and benefits in adults adhering to a vegan versus lacto-vegetarian diet?

Abstract: Vegans and lacto-vegetarians have better metabolic measurements of obesity syndrome when compared with omnivores (SOR: B, single cohort study). Vitamin B 12 deficiency is a significant health risk of the vegan diet compared with a lacto-ovo-vegetarian diet and omnivore diet (SOR: B, cross-sectional analysis of a cohort study).
