WGCNA Co-Expression Network Analysis Reveals ILF3-AS1 Functions as a CeRNA to Regulate PTBP1 Expression by Sponging miR-29a in Gastric Cancer

Abstract: Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most common types of human cancers worldwide. However, the detail mechanisms underlying GC progression remained to be investigated. The present study identified 2823 differently expressed mRNAs and 441 differently expressed lncRNAs in GC. WGCNA was conducted to identify highly correlated lncRNAs and mRNAs. Bioinformatics analysis observed that these dysregulated lncRNAs were significantly associated with the regulation of angiogenesis, cell division, cell-cell adhesion, blood … Show more

“… 15 In gastric cancer, ILF3-AS1 promoted gastric cancer progression through the miR-29a/PTBP1 pathway. 16 In osteosarcoma, ILF3-AS1 regulated SOX5 expression through miR-212. 17 But the exact mechanism of action in colon cancer is not clear.…”

“…Recently, increasing studies demonstrate that lncRNAs can directly interacts with miRNAs to modulate their downstream target expressions in GC progression [26,27]. For instance, lncRNA MALAT1 directly interacts with miR-22-3p to modulate zinc finger protein 91 (ZFP91) expression in GC cells [26], and lncRNA ILF3-AS1 functions as a ceRNA via sponging miR-29a to elevate PTBP3 expression in GC cells [27]. Interestingly, lncRNA LINC00504 acts as a molecular sponge for miR-1244 to modulate aerobic glycolysis in ovarian cancer [28].…”
