WGCNA and transcriptome profiling reveal hub genes for key development stage seed size/oil content between wild and cultivated soybean

Yanjie Yao,
Erhui Xiong,
Xuelian Qu
et al.

Abstract: Background Soybean is one of the most important oil crops in the world. The domestication of wild soybean has resulted in significant changes in the seed oil content and seed size of cultivated soybeans. To better understand the molecular mechanisms of seed formation and oil content accumulation, WDD01514 (E1), ZYD00463 (E2), and two extreme progenies (E23 and E171) derived from RILs were used for weighted gene coexpression network analysis (WGCNA) combined with transcriptome analysis. … Show more

“…The method of combining transcriptome data with the WGCNA algorithm to study core genes related to plant growth and development and resistance has been widely used in the study of morphological formation and developmental regulatory mechanisms of plants, flowers, leaves and fruits, as well as the prediction of unknown gene functions ( Dai et al., 2021 ; Wang et al., 2022 ; Yao et al., 2023 ). In this study, RNA-seq data from 18 Xinchun 26 and Xinchun 34 samples were used to screen 8 candidate genes related to the gluten content of wheat grains by combining wheat grains with the WGCNA algorithm combined with qRT−PCR.…”

“…The continuous development of sequencing technology and bioinformatics has provided convenience for exploring genes and pathways related to fatty acid synthesis in oil crops [ 20 – 22 ]. In sesame ( Sesamum indicum L.) seeds, the regulatory co-expression network was conducted and the FAD2, LOC10515945, LOC105161564, and LOC105162196 genes were identified to regulate the accumulation of unsaturated fatty acid biosynthesis [ 14 ].…”
