Similar studies have been published in other countries, and increased multidisciplinary and interinstitutional collaboration have been pointed out as essential elements in improving oral health for institutionalized elderly . Because of the increasing proportion of frail elderly retaining their own teeth in the future, research to improve facilitators' understanding of oral diseases and to reduce the barriers for interinstitutional collaboration between PDS and other institutions will be needed.…”

Dette samsvarer med funnene i vår undersøkelse hvor nesten en tredjedel (27 %) av alle sykehjemmene ikke hadde tidsfrist for kartlegging av tannstatus for nye beboere.…”
