“…In half of the total number of cases, sonoelastography was more accurate, and conventional ultrasonography in the other half. In a preliminary analysis of our data with a total of 26 lesions (benign: 10, malignant: 16) from 21 patients, B-mode ultrasonographic sizing was in agreement in 38.5 % (n = 10/ 26) of cases and sonoelastographic sizing in 50.0 % (n = 13 /26) of cases with the histopathological size [23]. The results of this prospective study also suggest a slight benefit of sonoelastography: For size differences of ± 3 mm and ± 5 mm, sonoelastographic sizing is approximately 10 % more accurate than sizing by B-mode ultrasonography.…”
