Wellbore breakout analysis for determining tectonic stress orientations in Washington State

Abstract: This report presents the results from a detailed analysis of wellbore breakouts from petroleum exploration well logs in the state of Washington. Principal horizontal stress directions are inferred from the measured azimuths of borehole breakouts and are used to place constraints on the style of faulting and regional deformation within the state.
