“…Gystein and glutathione increased both growth and differentiation of infection structures on a buffered silica gel medium containing glucose, mineral salts, a high concentration of iron and undenatured egg yolk; pyridoxin promoted growth but not differentiation (32). Gystein was effective in the absence of egg yolk but glutathione was not; a later report indicated that egg yolk could be replaced by coconut milk (33).
