Show more

“…It is well known that nitrite is an accelerator for the corrosion of tin in fruit acids (4)(5)(6). This acceleration is attributed to the fact that the nitrite facilitates the cathodic reaction by providing an oxidizing agent as an alternative cathodic reaction.…”

“…A determination of the chemical state of cobalt in these systems is of interest to assist in determining the mechanism for the corrosion inhibition. In earlier studies (1,4), x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) was used to characterize cobalt on zinc after immersion in cobalt chloride solutions, and emission 57Co MSssbauer spectroscopy was used to study cobalt in electrogalvanized steel (5). In the present paper, 57Co emission M5ssbauer spectroscopy has been used to clarify some of the questions that remained unresolved from the XPS studies of the * Electrochemical Society Active Member.…”
