Weft-knitted lace fabric simulation based on the spring-mass model

Abstract: Purpose The obtained simulation structures could reflect the appearances and the features of the fabrics. The purpose of this paper is to promote a lot for design and manufacturing of weft-knitted lace fabrics (WKLF). Design/methodology/approach The advantages of WKLF compared with warp-knitted ones were displayed. The formation mechanism of the WKLF was analyzed with employing the mechanics principles. Spring-mass model was proposed in this paper to achieve the simulation of the fabrics. End mass points and… Show more

“…In Equation (1), 'T' stands for the period of the PWM waveform, 'K' is a counting variable with a non-negative integer value, 'n' represents the time occupied by the highlevel voltage within one period, and 'V h ' and 'V l ', respectively, denote the high-level and low-level voltages within the PWM waveform. Performing a Fourier expansion on Equation (1) yields Equation (2).…”

“…The circular weft knitting machine is a knitting mechanical device that utilizes a selector to control knitting needles housed within a needle cylinder, transforming the fed yarn into circular fabric and ultimately producing tubular fabric [1,2]. The selector within the circular weft knitting machine is a crucial operational component responsible for creating fabric patterns, and its performance directly impacts the production efficiency of the circular weft machine and the diversity of fabric patterns it can produce.…”

“…In the research of the computer-aided design (CAD) of weft-knitted jacquard fabric, the research is divided into two aspects. Mathematical matrix modeling is carried out for pattern artisan and knitting diagram of weft knitted jacquard fabric, the CAD of the fabric is realized, such as weft-knitted imitation lace fabric (Zhang et al , 2015a, b, c; Cong et al , 2017), weft-knitted jacquard plush fabrics (Guo et al , 2014), weft-knitted multi-track jacquard fabric (Wang et al , 2017), weft-knitted jacquard fabric (Wang et al , 2018). Mathematical geometric modeling is carried out for three-dimensional jacquard structure and loop deformation structure of weft knitted jacquard fabric, the CAD of the fabric is achieved, such as plain weft knitted fabrics (Lu et al , 2017; Vassiliadis et al , 2007), fancy weft-knitted fabric (Sha et al , 2017; Kayacan et al , 2008; Kurbak et al , 2008), double-layer jacquard fabrics (Cong et al , 2018), multilayer weft-knitted fabrics (Jin et al , 2015).…”
