“…A logistic regression model performed across Europe revealed that crop rotation dominated by winter crops and conventional soil tillage significantly increases the probability of resistance selection of bentgrass [20]. Presently, there are 18 cases of herbicide-resistant bentgrass in 11 different countries in Europe, with most cases from the Czech Republic, Germany, and Poland [21][22][23]. Biotypes of bentgrass are resistant to the inhibitors of acetolactate synthase (ALS), photosystem II, and acetyl coenzyme-A carboxylase (ACC-ase), displaying single resistance, cross-resistance, and multiple resistance patterns [21].…”

“…Loose silky bentgrass [ Apera spica-venti (L.) Beauv.] is one of the most serious grass weed in Northern, Eastern and Central Europe ( Hamouzová et al, 2011 ; Massa and Gerhards, 2011 ; Schulz et al, 2011 ). At a density of 200 plants m -2 , A. spica-venti reduces the yield of winter cereals up to 30%, and it can cause greater yield losses than Alopecurus myosuroides ( Melander, 1995 ; Melander et al, 2008 ).…”

“…(silky bent grass) is the most prevalent grass weed of winter cereals in the Czech Republic. In 2005, silky bent grass biotypes that were putatively resistant to multiple herbicides were found in winter wheat fields throughout the Czech Republic and later confirmed to be resistant . The long‐term use of chlorsulfuron and the reliance on active ingredients that have the same mechanism of action contributes to the occurrence of resistance.…”
