To enhance weed control in sugarcane systems, the application of herbicide association is widely practiced. This approach broadens the spectrum of weed control and ensures a successful sugarcane yield. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the efficacy of herbicide combinations in controlling Rottboellia exaltata (itchgrass) and Ipomoea quamoclit (morningglory) during pre-emergence while also evaluating the potential impact on the sugarcane variety RB85 5156. The experimental design employed a randomized block structure with seven treatments and four replications. The treatments were as follows: 1 - no herbicide application; 2 - indaziflam + sulfentrazone (120 + 750 g i.a ha− 1); 3 - indaziflam + diclosulam (120 + 110 g i.a ha− 1); 4 - indaziflam + tebuthiuron (120 + 900 g i.a ha− 1); 5 - flumioxazin + diclosulam (150 + 110 g i.a ha− 1), 6 - flumioxazin + pyroxasulfone (200 + 200 g i.a ha− 1) and 7 - clomazone + sulfentrazone (1,080 + 750 g i.a ha− 1). The following parameters were evaluated: percentage of itchgrass and morningglory control, green coverage percentage (Canopeo® system), weed biomass (g m− 2), and itchgrass height. Tiller counts were also assessed to characterize the effects of the herbicides on sugarcane plants. Several herbicide associations have been proven effective alternatives for managing itchgrass and morningglory. The most successful treatments for itchgrass control were indaziflam + tebuthiuron and indaziflam + diclosulam, whereas for morningglory, the top performers were indaziflam + sulfentrazone, indaziflam + diclosulam, indaziflam + tebuthiuron, flumioxazin + diclosulam, and clomazone + sulfentrazone. All treatments significantly reduced the weed biomass, with indaziflam + tebuthiuron being the safest option for protecting sugarcane.

This work aimed to evaluate the effect of different rooting enhancers on the development of Bougainvillea cuttings (Bougainvillea spetabilis Willd), aiming to accelerate rhizogenesis for seedling production. Semi-hardwood cuttings standardized in fifteen centimeters in length and diameter of approximately one centimeter were used. After collected, one third of the basal part of cuttings was immersed according to the following treatments: water (control); commercial product (RADIMAXi 20® at concentrations: Ca 25.6%, S 1.8%, Zn 2.5%, Co 1.5%); coconut water (Cocos nucifera L.); Tiririca extract (Cyperus rotundus L.) and Lentil extract (Lensculinaris Medik), for about two seconds. After immersion, cuttings were planted in polyethylene bags filled with 50% of Carolina Soil® commercial substrate and 50% of washed sand, packed under screen (50%) with a micro sprinkler irrigation system. The experimental design used was completely randomized, with five treatments and ten replicates. Results were submitted to analysis of variance and the means of treatments to Student's t test at 5% probability. Evaluations were carried out at 45 days after installation and variables analyzed were: number of sprouts per cutting, length of the largest sprout, percentage of rooted cuttings and non-rooted live cuttings, length of the largest root, fresh and dry matter of roots, fresh and dry matter of shoots. Treatments that showed statistical difference were lentil extract, with the highest number of sprouts and the highest percentage of rooted cuttings and non-rooted live cuttings, and treatment with coconut water obtained the highest result in relation to variable length of the largest sprout, standing out as a promising sustainable alternative in the vegetative production of Bougainvillea seedlings.

Efficacy and selectivity of associations of PPO and photosystem II inhibitor herbicides applied in post-transplant of pre-sprouted sugarcane seedlingsWeeds compete directly and indirectly with the sugarcane crop, harming production. In this way, controlling these weeds is of great importance to achieve high productivity. The chemical management of weeds is one of the most efficient methods, however, depending on how the herbicides are applied, they can cause damage to the crop. Therefore, knowing the phytotoxic effect that the application of herbicides can cause in pre-sprouted seedlings is necessary. Thus, the objective of this work was to evaluate the effectiveness and selectivity of associations of protox and photosynthema II inhibitor herbicides in post-transplant of pre-sprouted sugarcane seedlings, when compared with other associations of herbicides practiced by sugarcane producers. Two projects were carried out, the first one in a greenhouse, following a completely randomized design, with four replications and a 10 x 2 factorial scheme, where the first factor corresponded to the treatments (control; (sulfentrazone + diuron) (525.0 + 1050.0); (sulfentrazone + diuron) (700.0 + 1400.0); (sulfentrazone + diuron) (875.0 + 1750.0); (sulfentrazone + diuron) + mesotrione (700.0 + 1400.0 + 120.0); diclosulan + tebuthiuron + ametryn (70.6 + 750.0 + 1500.0); diclosulan + s-metolachlor + ametryn (70.6 + 2400.0 + 1500.0); 2.4-D (1005.0) for dicots and metribuzin (1920.0) for monocots; MSMA + ametryn (1185.0 + 1500.0) and flumioxazin + tebuthiuron (125.0 + 750.0), doses in g a.i. ha -1 ) and the second at two application times (post-initial (2 to 4 leaves/1 to 2 tillers) and late post (6 to 8 leaves/3 to 4 tillers)). This scheme was carried out in 11 independent experiments, one for each weed studied (Luffa aegyptiaca; Ipomoea hederifolia; Merremia aegyptia; Ricinus communis; Momordica charantia; Mucuna aterrima; Digitaria nuda; Rottboellia exaltata; Brachiaria plantaginea; Brachiaria decumbens and Panicum maximum) . The sampling units were composed of 3.0 L pots filled with sandy-clay soil and the weeds were sown according to the company's recommendation. After sowing the weeds, the pots were kept in a greenhouse with irrigation. When the weeds reached the necessary phenological stages, application was carried out with a costal sprayer pressurized with CO2. Control assessments were performed at 7; 14; 21; 28; 35 and 42 days after application (DAA), following the visual rating scale proposed by ALAM (1974). At 42 DAA, shoot dry mass was evaluated, cutting the remaining plants close to the ground, placing them in paper bags and taking them to an air circulation oven until they reached constant weight. The data obtained were analyzed by the F Test at 5.0% and, when significant, by the Scott-Knott Test also at 5.0%.
