“…Based on the results obtained and considering the central nucleus of the social representation, one may conclude that the respondents' perceptions on cloud computing centers on the operational and functional aspects of this paradigm, focusing mainly on its availability, storage and security dimensions. Thus, the IT professionals in this study fail to comprehend the transformational impact of cloud computing (Benlian et al, 2018), the strategic value of same (Wirtz et al, 2014), as well as new business models that might be enabled by this new paradigm (Marston et al, 2011). This conclusion tallies with the cloud computing settings in Brazil and other emerging countries as set forth in the introduction, as companies in these countries rely more on the cloud to store and host their workloads and most firms are still experimenting with the cloud or making their initial investments, while only a few are already at the next stage with respect to developing long-term cloud strategies that combine multiple deployment models to serve current and future needs.…”

“…Based on the results obtained, especially considering the central nucleus, it may be concluded that the perception of Brazilian IT professionals toward Cloud Computing -in agreement with a part of the scientific literature on this concept -is focused on its operational and functional aspects, especially on the availability, storage, and security dimensions. Thus, Brazilian IT professionals lack understanding about the strategic value of Cloud Computing, as proposed byWirtz et al (2014), and of the new business models provided by this new paradigm, as suggested byMarston et al (2011).…”
