“…The research team decided a priori to randomly select 20 cases/transcripts out of a pool of 72 to begin data analysis. We also set aside an additional 10% ( n = 7), in the event that data saturation did not occur within the identified 20 cases/transcripts (Kirkbride et al, 2012). Data saturation occurred with the initial 20 artefacts chosen, and no further sampling was needed.…”

“…The use of PDSA cycle guides the testing of the change to determine if the change is an improvement (Dover, ; Gillam & Siriwardena, ; Taylor et al., ). In the Plan phase, the following key components are identified or defined: idea being tested, people's roles and functions during the test, and specific strategies to execute experimentation for the microsystem (Gage, ; Kirkbride, Floyd, Tate, & Wendler, ). In the Do phase, the plan is carried out and problems or unexpected observations are documented (Kirkbride et al., ; Varkey et al., ; Varkey & Kollengode, ).…”

“…The turbulence caused by such patient turnover has been perceived by nurses to decrease the relationship quality with patients and their family (Jennings, Sandelowski, & Higgins, 2013). The SWAT team allows for newly admitted patients to arrive according to their needs; not those of the receiving nurse who may receive multiple admissions during a shift while also discharging other patients (Kirkbride, Floyd, Tate, & Wendler, 2012).…”
