“…Ochieng, Kirimi and Mathenge (2016) estimated the effects of climate variability and change in crop revenue on maize and tea revenues earned by smallholder farmers in Kenya, finding differences between the two crops; temperature affected crop revenues negatively in maize but positively in tea production, while rainfall had a negative effect on income from tea. An analysis by Wineman et al (2016) explored the channels through which exposure to extreme weather in Kenya affects the well-being of smallholder farm households, based on longitudinal and spatial analysis of income-and calorie-based measures of welfare.
