Wear Resistance of the Glass-Fiber Reinforced Polymer Composite with the Addition of Quartz Filler

Abstract: The paper presents the results of investigations on the glass fiber reinforced composite for the floor panels with quartz powder additions of different percentages in terms of wear resistance, friction coefficient, hardness, and strength. The wear resistance was assessed using the specific wear work parameter determined by the novel tribotester with friction band. It was found that an increase in quartz powder addition to the tested polymer composite does not enhance its mechanical increasingly properties. Fro… Show more

“…However, while there are many papers concerning the glass fiber reinforcement and particulate filler [ 28 , 29 ], it seems that no research has been dedicated to the effect of a binder application during the epoxy resin preparation. Therefore, we have undertaken a novel research program aimed at a comparison of the commonly available materials, yet taking into account the usually omitted detail, namely, the form of a binder, i.e., a powder or emulsion.…”
