Wear analysis of rolling bearing contact surfaces based on finite element method

Wei Li,
Yalou Tan,
Yaping Tao
et al.

Abstract: Wear leads to the roughening of bearing surfaces, increased internal clearances, decreased rotational precision, and amplified vibration and noise, ultimately causing the bearing to fail to meet specified performance criteria. This study employs the quasi-static analysis method to examine bearing sliding behavior. Based on the Archard wear model and Hertz contact theory, a computational model for wear depth in lubricated conditions is established for rolling ball bearings, accounting for both the rolling and s… Show more

“…Xue et al [35] performed a 3D FE wear analysis to predict the service life of self-lubricating spherical plain bearings and the results were compared with experimental data. Later, various authors [36][37][38][39][40][41][42][43] investigated the effects of preload, surface roughness, rotational speed, manufacturing methods, and lubrication on the wear behavior of bearings using numerical models. Bhoi and Singh [44] performed dry sliding wear tests by using weight loss techniques to estimate the wear rate for Al-Y 2 O 3 based composite material.…”
