Ways to improve cross-regional resource allocation: Does the development of digitalization matter?

Abstract: The long-term extensive economic development has caused China's resource and environmental problems, especially the resource misallocation. The way China prioritises its limited resources is being significantly impacted by the rise of the digital economy and the interconnectedness of new technologies and the real economy. This paper quantitatively examines the linear and nonlinear impacts and mechanisms of digital development represented by internet development. With a series of empirical tests, we found that … Show more

“…Furthermore, the promotion of DE actually optimizes the flow of information in the market, thus reducing information asymmetry and externalities. This provides clearer market signals for green technology innovations, which strengthens their economic motivation [16] . Finally, DE creates an open and collaborative innovation ecology for firms [17] .…”

“…One of the foremost arenas witnessing the influence of digitalization is economic growth [46]. The proliferation of digital technologies has catalyzed innovations, paved avenues for new business models [47], and expanded market reach to transcend geographical boundaries [48]. Industries have metamorphosed, with sectors such as fintech, e-commerce, and digital health redefining traditional business paradigms [17][18][19].…”

“…TFP, a measure that captures the residual growth in total output of a production process that cannot be attributed to the accumulation of utilized traditional inputs, stands as a testament to the efficiency gains from digitalization [53,54]. Recent studies have underscored how digital technologies, by optimizing resource allocations, streamlining processes, and fostering innovations, have bolstered TFP [48,55]. The seamless integration of artificial intelligence, IoT, and big data analytics, among others, has been instrumental in this TFP augmentation, offering insights and efficiencies previously deemed unattainable [18,19].…”

“…(1) Resource Allocation Theory The principle of resource allocation is to optimize allocation by reducing losses under limited resource conditions, in order to obtain maximum income. On this basis, scientific incentive mechanisms, information mechanisms, and decision-making mechanisms were proposed [12][13]. A great number of fields are involved during the construction of the Financial Shared Service Center, including organizational restructuring, personnel arrangement adjustment, technology implementation and application, which require a large amount of resources to support the promotion and operation of the entire project.…”
