Wave-Induced Seabed Response around a Dumbbell Cofferdam in Non-Homogeneous Anisotropic Seabed

Abstract: Cofferdams are frequently used to assist in the construction of offshore structures that are built on a natural non-homogeneous anisotropic seabed. In this study, a three-dimensional (3D) integrated numerical model consisting of a wave submodel and seabed submodel was adopted to investigate the wave–structure–seabed interaction. Reynolds-Averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) equations were employed to simulate the wave-induced fluid motion and Biot’s poroelastic theory was adopted to control the wave-induced seabed re… Show more

“…This means the liquefaction depth predicted in this study is conservative to the engineering practice. Similar research and assumptions can be extensively seen in the previous studies [4,19,32,43]. The simulations on the soil behaviour after the real liquefaction moment may need more sophisticated models, which would be considered in our future studies.…”

“…Similar research can be seen in Zhang et al [31] for a randomly heterogeneous porous seabed. More recently, Chen et al [32] applied a 3D model for a non-homogeneous seabed, but they only considered the non-homogeneous properties and retained the gradient term in the vertical (z−) direction. Using the FD model equations, Zhang et al [33] developed a 3D numerical model for the non-homogeneous seabed response.…”

“…Essential minerals such as iron and copper, integral to hematopoiesis and circulatory health, are also present (Huang et al 2022b ). Moreover, the rhizome's nutrient composition imparts anti-inflammatory properties, recognized for therapeutic benefits in traditional medicine (Chen et al 2019a ).…”
