O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a potencialidade energética da biomassa de capoeira triturada, em diferentes tipos de manejo de trituração e de retirada, como matéria-prima para bioenergia destinada aos agricultores familiares no nordeste paraense. Nesta região, a maioria da população necessita de lenha, principalmente para o preparo da farinha de mandioca, que é um dos principais produtos de base alimentar do estado do Pará. A avalição do manejo de trituração foi realizada com uma e duas passadas do Tritucap e os tratamentos referentes à retirada da biomassa triturada ocorreram com o auxílio de peneiras de 35 mm, 55 mm e 75 mm de malhas. As variáveis estudadas foram: volume e peso da biomassa, teor de umidade, densidade básica, teor de materiais voláteis, teor de cinzas, teor de carbono fixo, poder calorífico superior e inferior da biomassa de capoeira triturada e o seu potencial energético. A biomassa da capoeira triturada de cinco anos apresentou índices de qualidade energética próximos aos encontrados para biomassas tradicionalmente utilizadas como combustíveis sólidos. A potencialidade chega a 208,61 GJ.ha -1 , mesmo utilizando somente uma trituração e aproveitando apenas 25% da capoeira triturada com a peneira de 75 mm.
