Water resource management for sustainable development

Abstract: Water resource management is the cornerstone for sustainable development. According to the United Nations world water development report, one-fifth of the world's population lives in areas characterized by physical water scarcity (Xu et al. 2018). The increase of water demand concomitantly with water scarcity is a common threat for humanity; it is expected to be worse in the future. Almost half of the world population will be living in area with high water stress by 2030 (United Nation Department of Economic a… Show more

“…Internal and external transparency is straightforwardly related with the other GAs, as any updates on the corresponding action plans should be communicated to any affected stakeholders (e.g., newly published legal requirements should be communicated to the farmer members of the F.OR, or any proposed mitigation measures for extreme events should be disseminated to regional authorities). Considering that effective dissemination of water management strategies is critical for addressing water scarcity and promoting sustainable agriculture [21], all the three F.ORs took several actions in terms of disseminating and communicating the adopted water management strategy to their members. These actions included, among others, the participation of the F.ORs in local events, the regular distribution of dissemination materials, and several press releases.…”

“…Different methods of synthesis of silica nanoparticles and nanocomposites were reviewed by Rahman and Padavettan [58]. Synthesis process focused on the enhancement of adsorption sites and its stability to use as adsorbent materials in engineering applications [22,58,[60][61][62]. Mesoporous silicates based on mobile crystalline material (MCM) were obtained by hydrothermal synthesis and liquid templating mechanism [63][64][65][66][67][68].…”
