“…There are several reasons for the reduction in available water resources. Water quality degradation due to excessive contamination is one of the significant factors among them (Kondraju and Rajan 2019). Several studies have observed a severe decline in the water quality of several inland water bodies due to contamination, predominantly due to algal blooms caused by excessive nutrient contamination and if these contamination conditions are sustained for a longer duration, it will lead to water scarcity and distress (Rouse, Bishop, and Struger 1999;Smith, Tilman, and Nekola 1999;Arheimer and Lidén 2000;Rabalais 2002;Rosegrant, Cai, and Cline 2002;Pretty et al 2003;Smith 2003;Jin, Xu, and Huang 2005;Kronvang et al 2005;Peters, Meybeck, and Chapman 2005;Sullivan, Agardy, and Clark 2005;Camargo and Alonso 2006;Rijsberman 2006;Qin et al 2007;Blankenberg, Haarstad, and Søvik 2008;Brockmann et al 2008;Moss 2008;Ribbe et al 2008;Zeliger 2008;Istvánovics 2009;Smith and Schindler 2009;Chhabra, Manjunath, and Panigrahy 2010;Dodds andWhiles 2010b, 2010a;Le et al 2010;Schwarzenbach et al 2010;Azizullah et al 2011;Zhang et al 2011;OECD 2012;Sharma and Gulati 2014;Tarazona 2014;Arto, Andreoni, and Rueda-Cantuche 2016;Bhateria and Jain 2016;Glibert 2017;Sharma, Yadav, and Gupta 2017;…”
