Macroalgae is a primary component of coastal biodiversity that is beneficial in protecting the balance of marine ecosystems. Macroalgae is a biological resource that is quite abundant in our country Indonesia, one of which is in the waters of Nusa Tenggara. Exploration of macroalgae diversity has been conducted in Nusa Tenggara waters. Referring to this, this article aims to assess the types of macroalgae distributed and whether there are algae blooming events around the waters of Nusa Tenggara. The method used in this article is a literature review by reviewing a number of articles used as references. The steps in analyzing a number of information obtained from 30 or more related articles are: 1) Search for several articles from national and international journals that are relevant to the title of the article topic. 2) Analyzing the content of each article that has been found. 3) The results of the analysis are used as a reference in the preparation of this article. The result that the author of the article got was to find out a number of dominant algae in Nusa Tenggara waters that caused algae blooming which became a destroyer of aquatic ecosystems.

Pencemaran air laut telah menjadi permasalahan yang umum terjadi pada wilayah pesisir, sebagai akibat dari peningkatan aktivitas di lingkungan perairan pesisir. Tingginya aktivitas yang dilakukan di wilayah pesisir Kota Kupang berkontribusi terhadap menurunnya kualitas perairan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kualitas perairan dan status pencemaran perairan pesisir. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada Bulan Agustus 2021 di perairan pesisir Kota Kupang. Metode pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan metode purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tingkat pencemaran tertinggi pada saat pasang ditemukan pada perairan Pelabuhan Tenau dengan nilai indeks pencemar 6,68 dan terendah pada perairan Lasiana dengan nilai indeks pencemar 3,19. Tingkat pencemaran tertinggi pada saat surut terdapat pada perairan Pelabuhan Tenau dengan nilai indeks pencemaran 6,61 dan terendah pada perairan Oesapa (2,95). Secara keseluruhan, maka perairan pesisir Kota Kupang pada saat pasang dan surut tergolong tercemar sedang.Kata Kunci: Kualitas air, Pencemaran perairan, Perairan pesisir, Teluk Kupang.

Karangantu fishing port symbolizes the rapid fishing industry in Serang, Banten. So many activities in the Karangantu fishing port area, such as a place for landing fisherman’s boats, shipping fish catches, and tourism object. These activities may impact the water quality. This research aims to analyze the water quality and pollution index in Karangantu fishing port. The water sample was carried out by purposive sampling in three stations around the Karangantu fishing port area: the estuary area, the fish auction, and the dock. Twelve parameters were analyzed: temperature, turbidity, transparency, TDS, TSS, pH, DO, COD, nitrate, cadmium, lead, and total coliforms. The water quality analysis result was compared by Class III water classification based on PP RI Nomor 82. Water quality was determined by the pollution index based on the minister of environment decree No. 115/2003. The result indicates that the estuary area is polluted, with a PIj score of 6.35; the fish auction and the dock f are in the moderately polluted categories, with PIj scores of 4.99 and 3.90. The worse pollution can be prevented by raising public awareness about the importance of clean water and providing waste management facilities.
