Water management on the Rice Canal system, Pakistan

Abstract: Abstract. Water management problems on the Rice Canal system in Pakistan are discussed from the standpoint both of the Executive Engineer, in charge of the day-to-day operation of the canal, and of the farmers. Particular problems are identified in relation to the pattern of canal withdrawals, the high demand for water, the lack of reliable operating data, cropping calendars and field watering methods.
