Water Contents and Monoglycerides as Development Role of Biodiesel Standard in Indonesia for B30 Implementation

Abstract: Since 2016, Indonesia has implemented a policy of mixing biodiesel into diesel oil by 20 percents, also known as B20, based on regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources number 12/2015. B20 is applied to all sectors that use diesel oil. In 2020, Indonesia continues to implement B30. Indonesia is the first nation in the world to implement B30, so Indonesia need biodiesel standard, especially biodiesel based from palm oil. This study is to present development standard of biodiesel in Indonesia. T… Show more

“…As increased biodiesel contents would affect the diesel-biodiesel blends, so, there are some changes and additional quality requirements, such as water content and monoglyceride content in SNI 7182:2015 for B30. In the trial of B30 implementation is also proposed to know the impact of the biodiesel supply chain on water content and monoglyceride content in the biodiesel [26].…”

“…WWFC's Biodiesel Guidelines indicate that the risk of quality will be decreased before biodiesel reaches the end-user due to the location of the biodiesel producer being far from fuel blending locations and needing to transport by freight [33]. The water content of biodiesel easily increases up to 6.5 times compared to diesel, so a scheme of good housekeeping practices in handling a higher blending of biodiesel is needed [26]. [34].…”
