Die hohe Beweglichkeit des H+und OH--Ions wird, entsprechend den Vorstellungen anderer Autoren, auf das Vorliegen eines besonderen Bewegungsmechanismus zuriickgefiihrt. Es wird postuliert und begriindet, da13 der geschwindigkeitsbestimmende ElementarprozeB, auf dem die Extrabeweglichkeit u+ beruht, ein aktivierter ProzeB ist mit einer Temperaturabhangigkeit der Form: P -_ U+ = U: e k T . 2. Abweichungen von dieser Temperaturahhangigkeit von uf werden auf Strukturanderungen des Wassers zuriickgefiihrt, die durch einen Strukturfaktor fo(T) beriicksichtigt werden. 3. Hfund OH--Ion fiihren, wie aus den experimentellen BeTeglichkeiten geschlossen wird, auf das gleiche fo(T) und uo. Das Wasser hat also in der Umgebung von H,O+ und OH--Ion die gleiche Struktur. Dies bedeutet, da13 die Ionen in die Wasserstruktur wie gewohnliche H,O-Molekeln eingebaut siiid und rechtfertigt den Ansatz, daB die Koordination in der Umgebung der Ionen nicht wesentlich gestort ist. 4. f,(T) wird aus Werten berechnet, die E u c k e n fur die Zusammensetzung des Wassers aus verschiedenen Assoziaten gegeben hat. Da sie a) die Volumenanomalien und b) die spezifische Ramie darzustelleii gestatten, wird angenommen, daB sie a) den Ant,eil der Eisstruktur ini Wasser, der fur die Volumenanomalien verantwortlich ist, und b) die Anzahl dcr Assoziatbindungen, auf deren Dissoziation die ungewohnlich hohen Werte der spezifischen Warme beruhen, richtig wiedergeben. 5. Nach den Messungen von N o y e s wird die Extraheweglichkeit bei hohen Teinpersturen klein. Bei hohen Teinperaturen dissoziieren auch die Assoziate. Daher wird angenommen, daB fiir den Mechanismus die Existenz eines Assoziat,es bzw. einer H-Briicke notvrendige Bedingung ist. 6. Bus der Forderung der Teniperaturuiiabhangigkeit der Aktivierung q des Elernentarprozesses wird geschlossen, daB sich der Eisstrukturanteil nicht a m Mechanismus beteiligt. Man erhalt aus der Theorie folgende Beziehullg fur Extrabeweglichkeit : Ann. Physik. 6. Folge, Bd. 6 17 Annalen der Phyaik. 6. Folge. Rand 6. 1949 Abgesehen von dem Widerspruch mit den oben angedeuteten Argumenten fur die Existenz des H,O+-Ions, kann auf diese Weise die hohe Beweglichkeit des OH--Ions nicht erklart werden. Die in der Formel von H e r m a n s auftretende exponentielle Temperaturabhangigkeit der Beweglichkeit wird bei der Extrabeweglichkeit des H+-Ions nicht beobachtet.. Da die Existenz des H30+-Ions als sehr wahrscheinlich anzunehmen ist, hiitte man fur die Ionenradien aus G1. (1) die Radien des H30+ bzw. OH--Ions zu erwarten; man erhalt im Gegensatz dazu z. B. bei 0" fur das positive 1011 r = 0,2 A, fiir das OH--Ion r = 0,4 A. Aus diesen Grunden nimmt man bekanntlich an, daB fur H+und OH--1onen im Wasser ein besonderer Bewegungsmechanismus vorliegt [vgl. z. B. I)]. Die Untersuchung der Leitfähigkeitsbeeinflussung von 0,1 m wäßriger HCl‐Lösung durch Zugabe von MgCl2, LiCl, NaCl, KCl, KBr und KJ in Konzentrationen von 0,5 (0,25 bei MgCl2) bis zu 4 Mol/1 (2 bei MgCl2) ergibt, daß man übersichtliche Verhältnisse dann erhält, wenn man die durch Differenzbildung der Leitfähigkeit der Mischung und der reinen Salzlösung erhaltene Leitfähigkeit der 0,1 m HCl‐Lösung nicht wie üblich als Funktion der Salzkonzentration, sondern als Funktion der Wasserkonzentration betrachtet. Hierbei ergibt sich, daß die HCl‐Leitfähigkeit bei Zugabe von Mg++‐Ionen doppelt so stark abfällt wie bei Zugabe der gleich großen Li+‐Ionen und daß der Abfall schwächer wird, wenn man von Li+‐ zu Na+‐ und K+‐Ionen übergeht. Der Abfall wird also im wesentlichen durch die Kationen des Salzes bedingt. Bezieht man die HCl‐Leitfähigkeit auf den Wassergehalt der Lösung, so erkennt man, daß zwischen der Wirkung von KCl, KBr und KJ kein Unterschied besteht. Für den Protonentransport in wäßriger HCl‐Lösung bestimmter H+‐Konzentration ist also im wesentlichen die Wasserkonzentration maßgebend, er wird durch Kationen behindert, weil deren H2O‐Dipole Protonen nicht in der Weise anzulagern vermögen wie freie H2O‐Molekeln. Die Wasserhülle der Anionen behindert ihn nicht in dem Maße wie die der Kationen. Der Temperaturkoeffizient der HCl‐Leitfähigkeit ist bei MgCl2‐ und LiCl‐Zugabe größer als in reiner HCl‐Lösung und wächst mit der Salzkonzentration; bei KCl‐, KBr‐ und KJ‐Zugabe ist er kleiner als in reiner HCl‐Lösung und fällt mit der Salzkonzentration. Die äußere (zweite) Hydrathülle der Kationen, die bei Mg++‐ und Li+‐Ionen vorhanden ist und durch Temperaturerhöhung abgebaut wird, und die bei K+‐Ionen fehlt, behindert also ebenfalls den Protonentransport. Der Protonentransport wird durch Einzel‐H2O‐Molekeln stärker begünstigt als durch Wasserassoziate, was auch aus der beträchtlichen Leitfähigkeitszunahme von HCl‐Lösungen bei Druckerhöhung hervorgeht.
