In addition to their intrinsic interest, these ancient events demand understanding for the broader view: by developing a bulk composi tional model and a compatible thermal history for the Moon, we may elucidate the early history of the Earth-Moon system (cf., for example, [10]- [13]) and thence learn more about the conditions required for the origin of life.…”
