Warts in toe webs associated with human papillomavirus type 7: a specific cutaneous manifestation of this type?

Abstract: ments for recurrent tumours and new chemotherapeutic regimens are needed. Cetuximab, in combination with paclitaxel, is an approved treatment for advanced SCC of the head and neck and has the highest disease control rate. 2 Some recent reports have demonstrated that unresectable cutaneous SCCs have been successfully treated with cetuximab. Among these reports, a durable complete response using the combination therapy with cetuximab and paclitaxel was observed. 5 Taking this evidence together, there is a possib… Show more

“…Infection of HPVs‐8, 22 and 47 was confirmed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using β‐HPV type‐specific primers (see Figure S1 and Table S1). We also performed a multiplex PCR‐based HPV typing assay that can detect a wide range of alpha‐, beta‐, gamma‐, mu‐ and nu‐HPVs as described previously, but no other HPVs were detected. Taken together, a diagnosis of EV was made.…”

[ 9 ] Our data show other two cases that HPV 7 may lead to interdigital, spiky warts or brownish plaques in immunocompetent patients who have not worked as butchers or fish handlers. Toe webs site as a wet environment and the presence of fungal infections may be the triggering factors.…”

“…In 2015, Miyauchi et al . [ 9 ] reported an additional case of HPV7-related WTW that showed quite characteristic multiple lesions. There has no further evidence which can prove HPV 7 played a pathogenic role in WTW yet.…”

“…1d ), which could be confirmed by subsequent sequencing after TA cloning. Furthermore, 4 different multiplex primer sets for the detection of other types of HPV ( 5 ) failed to detect any other type in the lesions. Based on the above information, we finally diagnosed the patient with verruca plana caused by HPV78 infection, and treated with cryotherapy.…”
