Abstract:The Wallach rearrangement is a strong acid promoted conversion of azoxybenzene and its derivatives into 4‐hydroxyazobenzene and the corresponding substituted hydroxyazobenzenes. The conversion under photo illumination is referred to as the photo‐Wallach rearrangement.
