Abstract: During the years 2006 to 2009, Rare Isotope Spectroscopic INvestigations at GSI (RISING) have focused on high-resolution γ-ray spectroscopy of exotic nuclear species at rest: following unambiguous discrimination and identification by the FRagment Separator (FRS) and its suite of detectors, the nuclei of interest were implanted in either a passive stopper or a stack of silicon detectors to allow for measurements of delayed ion-γ(γ) or ion-β-γ(γ) correlations. Results concerning experiments along the N ∼ Z line … Show more

“…The vast majority of these, namely 33+23+43=99 chains, comprise five subsequent α decays and a concluding spontaneous fission (SF). They are seemingly consistent with an interpretation of only one decay sequence each of the odd-A isotope 287 115 (2+1+0=3 chains) and odd-odd 288 115 (31+22+43=96 chains), respectively [14,16,20,21,22,23]. Using only secure assignments and the minor modification of Table II in Ref.…”

“…This initial Geant4-aided assignment was later independently confirmed [4]. The E1 character of those transitions implies very interesting nuclear structure physics [3,[17][18][19].…”

“…[25] corresponds to the data obtained from this experiment and shows a clean identification of 94 Pd nuclei. The ions were slowed down using an aluminium degrader at the S4 focal plane of the FRS, where the RIS-ING [28][29][30][31] stopped beam setup was located. They were implanted in an 'active stopper' that consisted of nine double sided silicon strip detectors (DSSSD) arranged in three horizontal rows perpendicular to the beam direction, with three detectors in each row.…”
