Vulnerabilities in a School-Based Conduct Disorder Sample as Identified by the Rorschach and PCL: YV

Abstract: This study provides Rorschach Inkblot Method (RIM) and Psychopathy Checklist: Youth Version (PCL: YV) descriptive data for a sample (N = 63) of conduct-disordered (CD) male adolescents in an alternative education school setting. The research is based upon the doctoral dissertation completed by Talkington in 2009. Results indicate that, while the Rorschach protocols of these youth accurately reflect the cognitive and emotional impoverishment of the group (IQ = M = 76.79; R = M = 16.34; Lambda = M = 1.13), their… Show more

“…A high percentage (72%) of positive CDIs was also found in a sample (N = 63) of male adjudicated youth (Talkington et al, 2013). In general, the Rorschach CS records obtained from these youth reflected cognitive and emotional impoverishment (e.g., mean Lambda = 1.77; 75% COP = 0), which can perhaps at least partially be linked to their low average IQ (mean IQ = 77).…”

“…The exception compared with antisocial personality disorders was that the passive movement responses displayed a predominance in some of the psychopaths (Mp>Ma; Franks et al, 2009;Gacono & Meloy, 1994). On the other hand, m responses decreased among the high psychopathic personalities (Loving & Russell, 2000;Talkington, Hughes, & Gacono, 2013). Violent offenders, especially with psychopathic traits, have been found to give Rorschach protocols in which AG=0 (Franks et al, 2009;Meloy & Gacono, 1992;Keltikangas-Järvinen, 1982).…”
