Vortex-assisted surfactant-enhanced emulsification microextraction combined with LC–MS/MS for the determination of glucocorticoids in water with the aid of experimental design

Abstract: An efficient and inexpensive method using vortex-assisted surfactant-enhanced emulsification microextraction (VASEME) based on solidification of floating organic droplet coupled with ultraperformance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry is proposed for the analysis of glucocorticoids in water samples (river water and hospital wastewater). VASEME was optimized by the experimental validation of Plackett-Burman design and central composite design, which has been co-related to experimental design. Placke… Show more

“…The analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to assess model adequacy and significant variables were identified by using F-test [29]. The polynomial fit quality was expressed by the coefficient [30], in which R 2 = 1 is the best quality and the lowest value for R 2 is set to be higher than 0.8 [31]. In this study, experimental R 2 and adjusted R 2 were determined as 90.33% and 85.17%, respectively for TCPA, and 95.03% and 90.47%, respectively for MRT.…”

“…The advantage of using a DoE approach is the possibility to evaluate multiple parameters simultaneously via statistical experiments versus the traditional approach of changing only one parameter at a time in no particular order and observing changes to the results on a run by run basis. Using a DoE approach is widely applied in bioanalytical science, emergency toxicology, environmental analytics, food analytics, , metabolomics, pharmaceutical analytics, and water analytics mostly for optimization of chromatographic separation. However, using a DoE approach has not yet been described to master the data overload resulting from modern data independent acquisition methods used for general unknown screening procedures by optimizing software parameters for the feature detection and hit generation.…”

“…A more progressive strategy is using a design of experiment (DoE) approach where multiple parameters can be evaluated simultaneously. DoE approaches are already widely applied in bioanalytical science, emergency toxicology, environmental analytics, food analytics, , metabolomics, pharmaceutical analytics, and water analytics mostly for optimization of the chromatographic separation.…”

“…A DLLME foi utilizada no preparo de amostras de urina (Jia et al, 2013) e de água superficial (Asati;Satunarayana;Patel, 2017), para determinação multiclasses, incluindo ERI e de macrolídeos, respectivamente. Em análise de alimentos, a técnica foi empregada para avaliação da ocorrência de ERI e seus produtos de degradação em mel (Zhao et al 2017).…”
