Abstract:Volvo gástrico é definido como a rotação do estômago maior que 180° em relação ao mesentério e tem como consequência o sofrimento vascular e a obstrução luminar. Etiologicamente, é dividido em primário ou idiopático (25%) e secundário (75%). Quando secundário, decorre de alterações anatômicas ou fisiológicas do estômago por diversas patologias, sendo a hérnia paraesofágica a mais frequente delas.
