“…Finally, the follow-up periods of the included studies were not reported in the review by Strong et al 2 These follow-up periods ranged from 1 to 156 months and 6 to 156 months in the reviews of Largo et al 19 and Voglimacci et al, 20 respectively. It is known that fat retention can take 3 to 6 months before reaching a steady state, [21][22][23] so it is essential to maintain a longer follow-up period. Therefore, our primary aim was to give an updated comprehensive overview regarding safety, technique, efficacy, and patient-/surgeon-reported outcomes of AFG for breast augmentation purposes.…”

“…The literature are reported fat resorption rates from 30% to 80% for clinical evaluations and from 50% to 90% for the experimental evaluation. [ 38 ] However, in patients affected by VPI, an overcorrection could be counterproductive and could cause obstructive sleep apnoea. [ 37 ] The role of lipofilling in the VPI treatment is to reduce the velopharyngeal gap (a small amount of fat is generally required) and to soften scar contractures after cleft palate repair, facilitating the approximation of the velum to the posterior pharyngeal wall.…”

“…In the author's experience and according to the literature,[ 10 ] the outcomes after the fat injection can be considered stable after three months. [ 38 ] In this case series, all the patients underwent one procedure of fat injection. As reported in the literature, a further procedure can be performed in cases of partial improvement and/or worsening of the speech intelligibility during children growing up.…”

“…However, lioptransfer in contrast to pure liposuction needs particular advanced surgical expertise in the handling of such fragile tissue transplants. Furthermore, well-elaborated informed consent with the patients is mandatory because of at times unpredictable behavior of the transplanted fat in terms of scattered resorption or induration, [21][22][23] therefore the need for several supplementary filling interventions.…”
