“…While the above investigations of analogous AIL and PIL mixtures with water appear to suggest stronger interactions between water and PILs, this does not represent a complete picture of IL–water interactions. The interactions between water and ILs have been inferred from the excess molar volume ( V m E ) and partial molar volume of species ( V i ) of these binary systems from extensive density data. The resultant deviations of molar volume from additivity suggest that both protic and aprotic ILs demonstrate weakening and strengthening of interactions between ions and water. The fact that both classes of ILs can demonstrate both strengthening and weakening of interactions with water implies that ionicity alone cannot explain the strength of interaction. (Indeed, as will be shown in this paper, partial molar volume does not infer a single interaction, but rather a combination of numerous interactions.…”

“…highly viscous ILs are not found to be suitable for application as heat-transfer uids. [5][6][7][8][9] As a consequence the studies on binary mixtures containing ILs have attracted many researchers. [10][11][12][13][14] Switchable ionic liquids (SILs) are capable of reversible compositional change by introduction of small external stimulus, thus SILs are the solvents that change to either neutral state or ionic state.…”

“…The binary systems, [Omim][PF 6 ]+DMF and [Omim][SCN]+DMF showed negative κΦα values, which magnitude is increasing with increasing of temperature. The observed κΦα negative magnitude increases with progression of temperature confirms that penetration effect of the DMF molecules is high predominant than compare to DMF intrinsic compressibility [41] . The order of the compressibility magnitude at infinity dilution for the studied ILs as follows: true[Omim][NTf2]+DMF>[Omim][PF6]+DMF>[Omim][SCN]+DMF …”
