Volume-based glucose metabolic analysis of FDG PET/CT: The optimum threshold and conditions to suppress physiological myocardial uptake

Abstract: Our findings revealed that the DA is suitable to decide the threshold for the volume-based analysis. The fasting time was significantly associated with the cardiac FDG uptake.

“…CMA was calculated by multiplying CMV by the SUV mean . 19 The lymph node sarcoidosis lesions were evaluated using LyMV and TLyG. The LyMV was defined as the volume of the lymph node within the boundary determined by the FDG uptake threshold (SUV mean of blood pool × 1.5).…”

“…Many challenges and unresolved issues remain regarding the evaluation of CS. For example, the quantification of the metabolic volume and activity and the estimation of the heterogeneity of disease activity are important tasks to be addressed (6). The assessment of right ventricular (RV) lesions is also useful for the risk stratification of patients with cardiac sarcoidosis (1).…”

“…23 The authors retrospectively analyzed 190 consecutive patients referred for general inflammatory or oncologic indications. A second-order metric, referred to as the volume of cardiac metabolic volume (CMV), derived from a PET activity threshold related to nearby background activity within a ROI defined in the liver, the left ventricle (LV), or the descending aorta (DA).…”
