Voltammetric Behavior of the Insecticide Pymetrozine on a Mercury Meniscus Modified Silver Solid Amalgam Electrode

Abstract: A novel sensitive voltammetric method for the determination of the insecticide pymetrozine was designed using a solid working electrode. A mercury meniscus modified silver solid amalgam Downloaded by [University of Leeds] at 12:58 03 October 20152 electrode in connection with differential pulse voltammetry was found to be appropriate for the determination of the insecticide. Pymetrozine provided one well-developed reduction peak suitable for analytical purposes at approximately 800 millivolts (versus the Ag/Ag… Show more

“…The increase in the use of pesticides often results in many adverse impacts, especially on the agricultural environment [6, 7]. For this reason, various analytical techniques are used to test pesticides, including chromatographic methods [8, 9]. Pesticides are widely used [10] in agriculture, medicine, and industry and have the potential to change the ecosystem [11].…”

“…Different types of amalgam or construction of electrodes have been proposed up to date. Among them, one can distinguish cyclic renewable silver amalgam film electrode [Hg(Ag)FE] from Polish group in Cracow [ 30 34 ], dental amalgam electrode from Norwegian group in Trondheim [ 35 , 36 ], mercury meniscus modified silver solid amalgam electrode (m-AgSAE) from Czech group in Prague [ 37 , 38 ], as well as amalgam modified screen-printed carbon electrodes [ 39 , 40 ]. Surprisingly, up to date, no literature data can be found with respect to electrochemical determination of FLM.…”
