Voltage support control of unbalanced distribution systems by reactive power regulation

Abstract: The high penetration of distributed generation (DG) into distribution networks (DN) has highlighted the necessity to develop proper control techniques to supply customers with high power quality levels and to offer ancillary services to the distribution system operators (DSOs). This paper supposes an unbalanced DN in which the importance of applying voltage control strategies is largely justified in literature. In particular, we present a strategy that offers the mandatory voltage control ancillary service, ab… Show more

“…The consequence of this reactive power compensation demonstrated in ref. [98] is the increase of the entire network losses by 24 kWh for the whole day, whereas the VUF is reduced significantly. It is important to note that the proposed method [98] cannot guarantee that the voltage unbalance compensation will be achieved for all unbalance conditions.…”

“…[98] is the increase of the entire network losses by 24 kWh for the whole day, whereas the VUF is reduced significantly. It is important to note that the proposed method [98] cannot guarantee that the voltage unbalance compensation will be achieved for all unbalance conditions. This is because this method is only activated when the measured line‐to‐line voltage is greater than the reference voltage.…”
