Voltage Lifting Techniques for Non-Isolated DC/DC Converters

Abstract: This paper presents a comprehensive review that highlights the characteristics of non-isolated step-up converters based on high boost voltage lifting techniques. The paper categorises the high boost techniques: multistage/multilevel, switched capacitor, voltage multiplier, voltage lift, switched inductor and magnetic coupling. The paper also discusses in detail the advantages and disadvantages for each category such as cost, complexity, power density, reliability and efficiency. The number of passive and activ… Show more

“…We crease the number of turns to increase the inductance, but this would reduce th mum current through the wire, which can be defined as (3): A feasible DC-DC topology solution to generate a large voltage gain consists of the cascade connection of two boost converters (the second converter's input is the first converter's output). In recent works, some DC-DC converters producing large voltage gains have been proposed, for instance, converters with input-parallel output-series connections, cascaded converters, and converters that are based on voltage lift techniques, among others [7][8][9][10].…”

“…As a result, there is a high demand for their use in various applications. Indeed, RESs are an effective solution for traditional power systems because of their reliability and widespread, making them riskfree [1], [2]. In addition, they can be produced locally, helping to alleviate dependence on fossil fuels [3].…”

“…In literature [1], [4]- [9], many non-isolated or isolated topologies are employed in the RES for providing high voltage gain. Due to its simple structure and fewer components, the conventional boost converter (CBC) can be used to achieve high voltage conversion ratio.…”
