Volatile Anesthetics Augment Expression of Proinflammatory Cytokines in Rat Alveolar Macrophages during Mechanical Ventilation 

Abstract: Gene expression of proinflammatory cytokines increase after inhalation of volatile anesthetics under mechanical ventilation. These data indicate that inhalation of volatile anesthetics under mechanical ventilation induces an inflammatory response at the transcriptional level within 2 h.
