“…Small prospective studies exist which examine time to menstrual cessation with testosterone therapy [31,33]. Outcomes research on other transition related interventions, including speech therapy, are scattered throughout the literature [51,52,53]. Studies exist on patient satisfaction with surgical outcomes [54,55], but not on satisfaction with hormonal treatment outcomes separate from overall surveys of access to care or satisfaction with overall health care services in a given setting.…”

“…The virializing effect of testosterone is noticeable from a concentration of 150 ng/dL and higher. Repeated exposure to concentrations higher than 200 ng/dL results in irreversible changes; the voice of trans men cannot be distinguished acoustically from the voice of control men . In trans women, the lifetime absence of testosterone leads to some female voice characteristics.…”

“…It is known that the treatment with estrogen treatments do not promote satisfactory effects in the male larynx, that is, do not sufficiently increase f0 in transsexual women . A recent study examined the impact of hormone therapy on the f0 of a group of 38 transsexual men compared with a control group (cissexual or non‐transsexual men) and showed that only 10% of the transsexual men had difficulties with the decrease in f0. These difficulties, at least in part, seem to be associated with decreased sensitivity to androgens .…”

These difficulties, at least in part, seem to be associated with decreased sensitivity to androgens . Thus, it was observed that the hormone therapy tends to be more efficient in cases of transsexual men than in transsexual women.…”
