Vitreimonas flagellata gen. nov., sp. nov., a novel member of the family Hyphomonadaceae isolated from an activated sludge sample

Abstract: A coccobacilli-shaped proteobacterium, designated strain SYSU XM001T, was isolated from an activated sludge sample collected from JiMei sewage treatment plant, Xiamen, PR China. Cells were Gram-stain-negative, catalase-positive and oxidase-negative. The 16S rRNA gene sequence of strain SYSU XM001T shared less than 92 % sequence identities with members of the class Alphaproteobacteria , with highest sequence similarity to … Show more

Salt tolerance was observed by supplementing TSA with up to 20 % (w/v) NaCl.…”

“…The almost-complete 16S rRNA gene sequence of strain SZ9 T (1430 bp; GenBank accession number MZ092877), which was consistent with that of the whole genome, had highest similarity values to Aquidulcibacter paucihalophilus TH1-2 T (92.44 %) [16], followed by members of other genera: Vitreimonas flagellata SYSU XM001 T (89.61 %) [17], Asprobacter aquaticus DRW22-8 T (89.49 %) [18] and Hyphobacterium vulgare WM6 T (89.49 %) [19]. The sequence similarity values of all type strains available in GenBank to strain SZ9 T were less than 93 %, which was far below the threshold of 95 % for genus delineation, indicating that strain SZ9 T represented a novel genus [20].…”
