“…It is shown by these experiments that a systemic deficiency of Vitamin C producing a scorbutic or prescorbutic state definitely affects wound healing and the strength is diminished. Bartlett (1942) found the tensile strength to be directly proportionate to the Vitamin C content of the scar tissue tested. Another striking effect is the retardation of the formation of new blood-vessels in the organization of lesions.…”
