Abstract: Cytoplasmic pH is tightly regulated by diverse active mechanisms and interconnected regulatory processes in bacteria. Many processes and regulators underlying pH-homeostasis have been identified via phenotypic screening of strain libraries towards non-growth at low or high pH values.
