Smart stimuli‐responsive persistent luminescence materials, combining the various advantages and frontier applications prospects, have gained booming progress in recent years. The trap‐controlled property and energy storage capability to respond to external multi‐stimulations through diverse luminescence pathways make them attractive in emerging multi‐responsive smart platforms. This review aims at the recent advances in trap‐controlled luminescence materials for advanced multi‐stimuli‐responsive smart platforms. The design principles, luminescence mechanisms, and representative stimulations, i.e., thermo‐, photo‐, mechano‐, and X‐rays responsiveness, are comprehensively summarized. Various emerging multi‐responsive hybrid systems containing trap‐controlled luminescence materials are highlighted. Specifically, temperature dependent trapping and de‐trapping performance is discussed, from extreme‐low temperature to ultra‐high temperature conditions. Emerging applications and future perspectives are briefly presented. It is hoped that this review would provide new insights and guidelines for the rational design and performance manipulation of multi‐responsive materials for advanced smart platforms.

Persistent luminescence (PersL) materials attract extensive interest in the scientific community nowadays due to their great potential in various fields, such as night‐vision signage, high‐level anticounterfeiting, in vivo bioimaging, and X‐ray extension imaging. However, the majority of PersL materials are synthesized by time‐ and energy‐consuming processes such as high‐temperature solid‐state reactions or hydrothermal synthesis. In this work, a rapid one‐step microwave‐assisted solid state (MASS) synthesis of La2MgGeO6‐based robust double perovskite PersL material is successfully achieved, without any secondary thermal treatment, which limits the total synthesis time to 30 min. Furthermore, this MASS approach is also employed to integrate multimodal luminescence into one single La2MgGeO6 matrix with triple dopants (Mn4+, Yb3+, and Er3+) for light conversion. Impressively, multimodal and multicolor luminescence is obtained with different responsiveness of external stimulations. Notably, the energy transfer among different trapping levels is observed upon photo‐stimulation. This work provides a good example of the feasibility of MASS method to prepare luminescent materials with abundant optical features in an efficient, sustainable, environmentally friendly, and easily manageable way.

Thermochromic luminescent materials (TLMs) with spectral responsiveness to thermal stimuli have received broad attention due to the forefront applications in temperature visualization and sensing technologies. Herein, a phase diagram‐driven strategy for designing TLMs in Cs–Cd–Br ternary system is presented. The room temperature stable Cs7Cd3Br13 crystal is first obtained by utilizing a facile hydrothermal method, and the self‐trapped exciton (STE) luminescence is improved by breaking local symmetry via Mg2+ doping. Then thermochromic luminescence is further realized in Mn2+ co‐doped Cs7Cd3Br13 on the basis of reversible structural transition to metastable Cs2CdBr4 under thermal stimuli. The emission color change from bright yellow to green benefits from the variation of crystal fields around Mn2+, which can be switched by heating and cooling circulations. Finally, the resulting material is used as a demo to visualize the temperature of a homemade high‐frequency induction heating sintering platform.
