In recent years, the study of insect flight behavior has gained prominence, offering insights into their dispersal strategies, habitat preferences, and potential migration patterns. Recognizing the need for a precise tool to capture insect flight, we developed an Arduino‐integrated flight mill that offers researchers affordability, accuracy, and adaptability. Our flight mill was rigorously tested on two insect species, Protaetia brevitarsis seulensis and Polygonia c‐aureum, and proved effective in recording their unique flight patterns. Key to the precision of our flight mill is the integration of advanced materials, such as polytetrafluoroethylene, which reduces friction, and the incorporation of magnetic sensing for meticulous data capture. These design choices ensure that the natural flight speed of the insect is replicated with minimal disturbance. Additionally, the implementation of a dedicated R script for data analysis provides researchers with a comprehensive platform, allowing them to delve deeply into various metrics, visualize patterns, and make informed conclusions. However, our flight mill is not without challenges. Mastery of the Arduino platform and R programming environment is essential for optimal use, which could pose barriers for those unfamiliar with these platforms. Moreover, although carefully designed, the mounting mechanism may still influence the natural behavior of the insect. Despite these challenges, the potential applications of our flight mill are myriad. From basic entomological research to practical applications in pest management and conservation, its versatility is evident. The adaptability of the tool also makes it an excellent resource in educational settings, offering students hands‐on experience in studying insect behavior.

Use of infographics for facilitating learning of pharmacology in the nursing degree

Aim To evaluate the impact of an educational intervention focused on teaching students to create infographics to improve pharmacology learning. Design This is a comparative study. Methods The population was 250 nursing students who had to create two infographics in groups related to the content that had been addressed in pharmacology in two different moments. Students and professors evaluated the infographics through a 5‐point Likert scale. Scores from the official exam of the pharmacology subject were obtained. Results Most of the students scored below 50% for the “excellent” and “good” categories. Intraclass correlation and kappa correlations among students and professors' evaluations were low. The comparison between both times of students' evaluations only yields significant correlation values for the criterion “Understanding of information” ( r = .039, p = .024) and the “Visual presentation of information” ( r = .041, p = .019). No correlation was obtained between the test and evaluations values of the infographic.

Teaching of Human Parasitology During the COVID-19 Pandemic in China

Since the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, human parasitology education has been exceedingly disrupted. To deliver human parasitology knowledge, medical universities in China have employed multiple measures, some of which have had positive outcomes that have not yet been summarized. The objective of this review is to share the Chinese experience as the human parasitology teaching methods were transformed. In general, we adopted a fully online teaching model under urgent pandemic control measures based on a well-structured teaching model that integrated the course preview, live lecture, review, and assessment. Combinations were attempted of COVID-19 and parasitology teaching contents. Some active learning models, such as case-based e-learning and flipped classrooms, were proposed for offline and online blended teaching during the normalization stage of the pandemic. Meanwhile, we discuss both the strengths and flaws of online and blended teaching. Some useful assessment tools are presented for reference purposes. In conclusion, this transition to online and online-offline blended human parasitology teaching in China has boosted innovative teaching activities and may continue to catalyze the transformation of medical education.
