Visual Data based Throwing Estimation for Feasibility Assessment

Abstract

To estimate ball-throwing intentions based on the swinging motion of people with upper-limb disabilities when throwing a ball, in this paper, an appropriate body part is determined and its relationship to release angles in multiple people is investigated. As a result, a correlation between shoulder movement and release angle was observed in many subjects, but it was confirmed that there were individual differences in the slope of the correlation. In the future, our goal is to use this correlation to construct an algorithm for estimating throwing intention. This paper is expected to expand the means of support for people with upper-limb disabilities in boccia.
