Visible-Light-Mediated Direct Amidation of Arenes and Heteroarenes with N-Aminopyridinium Salts

Abstract: Reported here is a novel photoinduced strategy for the C–H amidation of aromatics and heteroaromatics through benzamide radical with free NH generated from N-amidepyridinium salts under visible light irradiation. The new mode of activation of N-amidepyridinium salts proceeds to various benzamide derivatives with free NH efficiently in a mild condition. In addition, oxazoline analogs synthesized by the reaction with styrene also exhibit substantial application prospects of this versatile protocol.
