The world’s transition to green economic growth, considering the Agenda for Sustainable Development, provokes relevant structural changes in the world market. Consequently, it boosts the business sector’s ability to incorporate green dimensions into their development policies to intensify their green competitiveness in the market. In this case, it is necessary to identify the appropriate indicators that affect a company’s green competitiveness. Thus, stakeholders and management could intensify or decline a company’s green competitiveness depending on the efficiency of communication between them. The paper aims to analyze the role of stakeholders’ engagement in the company’s management in enhancing green competitiveness. The research data were compiled from a questionnaire of 75 respondents, who represent the Ukrainian company’s management. The study applies PLS-SEM to test the hypotheses of the investigation. The empirical results allow us to conclude that stakeholders’ engagement in the company’s management positively affects the company’s green competitiveness. The most statistically significant impact on the company’s green competitiveness is experience in communication with stakeholders and managing stakeholders’ conflicts, with loading factors of 0.802 and 0.806, respectively. The findings show that to improve green competitiveness, the company’s management should develop targeted stakeholder communications and extend knowledge and awareness of stakeholder interests and values. At the same time, management should incorporate stakeholders’ suggestions and recommendations when promoting a company’s green competitiveness.

Nowadays, Visible Light Communication (VLC) has gained much attention due to the significant advancements in Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology. However, the bandwidth of LEDs is one of the important concerns that limits the transmission rates in a VLC system. In order to eliminate this limitation, various types of equalization methods are employed. Among these, using digital pre-equalizers can be a good choice because of their simple and reusable structure. Therefore, several digital pre-equalizer methods have been proposed for VLC systems in the literature. Yet, there is no study in the literature that examines the implementation of digital pre-equalizers in a realistic VLC system based on the IEEE 802.15.13 standard. Hence, the purpose of this study is to propose digital pre-equalizers for VLC systems based on the IEEE 802.15.13 standard. For this purpose, firstly, a realistic channel model is built by collecting the signal recordings from a real 802.15.13-compliant VLC system. Then, the channel model is integrated into a VLC system modeled in MATLAB. This is followed by the design of two different digital pre-equalizers. Next, simulations are conducted to evaluate their feasibility in terms of the system’s BER performance under bandwidth-efficient modulation schemes, such as 64-QAM and 256-QAM. Results show that, although the second pre-equalizer provides lower BERs, its design and implementation might be costly. Nevertheless, the first design can be selected as a low-cost alternative to be used in the VLC system.

Semantic-empowered visible light communication for image transmission based on deep convolutional generative adversarial network

In this paper, a semantic communication-based scheme was proposed to tackle the optimization challenge of transmission efficiency and link stability in indoor visible light communication (VLC) systems utilizing light-emitting diodes for image transmission. The semantic model, established by deep convolutional generative adversarial network (DCGAN) and vector quantization method, can effectively extract the essential characteristics of images. In addition, indoor VLC channel models including line-of-sight (LOS) and non-line-of-sight (NLOS) links are established in a 5*5*3 room, while incorporating noise interference encountered during signal transmission into the training process of the semantic model to enhance its anti-interference capability. Besides, the performance disparity between the semantic VLC system and the conventional VLC system using Better Portable Graphics (BPG) is assessed across various modulation formats, transmission distances, and receiving locations. The simulation results demonstrate that the semantic VLC system effectively enhances link stability and achieves a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) gain exceeding 6 dB. Additionally, the semantic VLC system achieves superior performance compared to the conventional VLC system employing convolutional code at a rate of 1/2, without incurring additional bits consumption for error correction. Moreover, the practicality of the semantic VLC system is experimentally validated on an indoor physical testbed online enabled by the field programmable gate array (FPGA) with up to 1 Gbps data rate. In comparison with existing schemes, the semantic VLC system effectively reduces communication overhead by 40% while maintaining similar received image quality. Furthermore, it significantly enlarges the communication coverage of the VLC system by a factor of two without necessitating any hardware modifications and ensures stable transmission of images in high-speed scenarios.
