Viscosity Effect on Soil Settlements and Pile Skin Friction Distribution During Primary Consolidation

Abstract: Skin friction distribution occurs due to a relative movement between pile and adjacent soil. Varied factors affecting this movement get the soil to, occasionally, settle more than that of the pile. In this case, negative skin friction distributes along some part of the pile's shaft. Primary consolidation begins after applying surcharge load on ground surface next to pile's head -where pressure will be carried by the pore water until the entire excess pore pressure dissipates and shear stress is mobilized. This… Show more

“…The computer program allows receiving the stress deformed state of a pile and the surrounded massif as one nonhomogeneous body, having Prandtl's diagram for concrete and Botkin's diagram for different types of soil. A new method for solving problems of pile foundations is presented as an alternative to the design of pile foundations according to the requirements of the Kazakhstan standards SNIP 5.01-03-2002 "Pile foundations" [13]. This program can be used in the harmonized standard.…”

“…The proposed technique provides the possibility of its use for slanting knives and forms the basis of this study. The analysis of the above derived formulae for calculation of the tangential, end and normal forces on the thrower rotor indicates to the forces contributing to reduce the cutting resistance of the soil under chippings separation by the least energyconsuming diagonal semi-free cutting with the BBUR cutting element shaped as a deteriorated diagonal wedge performing a complex movement; improve the BBUR's work stability and explain the best dynamic properties compared to the rotors of other design [6][7][8][9][10][11][12].…”
